BPA Open Meeting August 21st 2010Following the success of last year, not only does the National Sprinters League event and the popular Women Sprinters Omnium return to Newport, but also for the first time will be a National Endurance League Omnium for teams of two riders on Saturday 21st August. The Men Sprinters will each ride a 200metres flying start time trial, with the fastest 12 going through to the Sprinters League event whilst the rest will contest a B Sprint. All will also contest a Keirin as a separate event. The Women Sprinters will all ride a 200metres flying start time trial for seeding in the Sprint. After the Sprint series they will contest a Keirin, followed by a 4kms Scratch race. The Omnium result will be decided by points awarded according to finishing positions in the three races. The Endurance League event is unique in that it is an omnium competition for two man teams. Each team will first contest a 20kms Madison, then each rider in the team will contest a 10kms Scratch race. The final race in the Omnium is another Madison, this time over 30kms. The organisers are very pleased to be able to stage these races as it gives a rare opportunity for riders to compete indoors in open competition under conditions which are normally the preserve of National Championships or specially staged events and would welcome entries from individuals, clubs, teams and regions from both within the UK and abroad. Although entry on the day is indicated riders are advised that should the event be oversubscribed by the closing date then no more entries will be accepted.
